Why he was admitted: Attempted suicide with Carl Barât.
Anything else:
Peter exhibits signs of bipolar disorder, dependent personality and kleptomania.
He can be seen as type II bipolar, as he's been highly functional and overachiever from childhood.
Creative and sensitive to his surroundings. Can be quite obsessive and pedantic about his ideas. Shows high enthusiasm and hyper movement; Quite flamboyant and likes to impress people. Loves to dress, also cross dresses occasionally.
Can go long without sleeping (his record is two weeks), but he doesn't seem to mind and feels quite good about it.
Downside - Easily affected and prone to get hurt; Narrates his emotions dramatically (though in my opinion he's also accurate and quite frank.) His naivety is often beautiful. But it doubles with impulsive thoughts and acts and a higher level of frustration. When backed into a corner, he'd insist to do things his own way, often out of fear of 'losing' to the other.
Tends to idealise his relationships though also invites confrontations. Can suffer from anxiety at the thought of something dear to him being taken.
He would say he feel darkness inside or fragility, that he'd manifest through songs and poems.
Self-destructive - metaphorically feels like destroying the thing he loves. Though occasionally does smash valuable items in anger.
Dependency - Needs to be around people and obtains a large group of friends. Is cautious for signs of rejection along with a feeling of helplessness. Can get friendly even with complete strangers, which is seen as a part of his charm. When meeting people, will often get carried away and spend long with them than intended. Will have trouble keeping outside influence away, even if he gets wary. Often says what people want to hear about him, and gets reassurance that way.
His relationship with Carlos Barât is central in his behaviour, he's helped built 'a world of their own' around their friendship. The dialogue between them is quite personal and better understood by them.
Doherty committed himself willingly two days after Barât, harbouring the 'always together, better or worse' attitude. Unlike Carl, there were no 'signs' of suicidal tendencies and he'd have more control than him over getting out.
